South 4th Street Subway Stop!

Sadly, not really. But apparently one was planned and partially built. The always brilliant Williamsburg/Greenpoint Preservation Alliance blog saw an item in the Times and did their homework—check out their post, which tells all about the 1929 proposed subway addition which would have included this stop (that's the plan, above). Weird to think what the neighborhood might be like if it had happened.
